At Mason, community service is part of the academic experience. Students, faculty, and staff across all disciplines volunteer their time to make a difference in not only Northern Virginia, but across the country and around the globe. recycle
  • Through internships, service-learning classes or volunteering, Mason students devote thousands of hours to those in need. In 2006, 60 percent of Mason students had either volunteered or planned to volunteer, while 68 percent had completed or planned to complete a practicum or internship.
  • Through its service-learning opportunities, CLCE helped facilitate about 17,000 hours of service to 65 nonprofit and government-service organizations. recycle
  • Social work students in the College of Health and Human Services contribute more than 60,000 hours every year to local agencies.
  • Students taking an internship through the Department of Global and Community Health spend about 5,000 hours per semester in local assisted-living homes, charities and the Fairfax County Health Department.
